HIV / AIDS Awareness Session In Rahma Hospital Khuiratta

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, young people aged 13–29 accounted for 39 percent of all new HIV infections in recent years. HIV is a disease that does not discriminate. Anyone can contract this disease, which is why it is important for students to be aware of how to protect themselves and prevent the transmission of HIV.
RAHMA Hospital Khuiratta managed the HIV / AIDS awareness session at RAHMA Hospital Khuiratta. Dr. Basharat Hussain IMO RHK informed the participant about the history of disease that it came into the knowledge of the medical profession during 1979-80 in America. The virus isolated the name HIV (Human immuno deficiency virus) And the later on the disease was given the name AIDS (Acquired immuno deficiency Syndrome). He illustrated how it spreads from one person to other and what is the source of infection.
The disease spreads through sexual intercourse, blood contacts such as blood transfusion having a virus, and from mother to newborn. He elaborated that the disease has major & minor signs. Among the major signs are lose motion & weight loss and the minor are pneumonia etc. He told preventive measures such as avoid unsafe sexual relationships and stay away from prostitutes. Make sure sterilization of medical instruments, proper disposal of used syringes and maintaining personal hygiene.
